Austin Tilghman is President and Chief Executive Office of UCM, responsible for overall management as well as marketing and trading supervision. Mr. Tilghman is a thirty-year veteran of the mortgage-backed securities markets. He started his career with Paine, Webber, Jackson & Curtis in Atlanta in 1975 & was responsible for origination of mortgage-backed securities in the Southeast region. In 1986, he took the position of New York sales manager of PaineWebber Real Estate Securities. In 1987, Austin was recruited by J.P. Morgan Securities, Inc. to help start its mortgage-backed securities department. At J.P. Morgan, Austin was responsible for the mortgage banking desk and headed a design team to offer derivative products to mortgage bankers. This team crafted the first custom products to offset mortgage bankers’ balance sheet risk. In 1992 Austin was recruited by UBS Securities as Director Mortgage Banking Group. This group covered Mortgage originators nationwide and continued to offer the full spectrum of products and services. Austin graduated from Hobart College with a BA in Economics in 1974.
